Official Word has come down, I'm a horse owner again, and I'm excited with what went down.
At first I thought we owned hip number 24 because Ferris Allen our trainer bought that filly. I was wrong, and in my haste and happiness might have sent out a few wrong signals, but now I'm 110% sure who we own, and it's blowing my mind!
I'm now part owner of hip #410 (dam is Greta's Joy) A filly that RNA'd in July at $35,000 and in November at $37,000 for $6,500. This filly has a ton of upside (love that word)
She's by first year sire Silver Train who won the Stallion making Met Mile, but the dam is where it gets interesting. Greta's Joy is a direct female descendent of Turn To Talent: Half-sister to blue hen mare Too Bald and Granddam of Broad Brush. You're saying, "Yeah that was 4 generations ago." But this family recently got hot again. Greta's Joy half brother is Surf Cat. Yes, that Surf Cat. So, this filly is the 2nd filly from an extraordinary family. I have a dream filly, and all we paid was $6500 at the sale.
Wow. I've experienced the lows of horse ownership. I'm counting on this being anything but. Check out That's Amore, who runs the show.

Congratulations!
It's amazing how those sales went, huh? Hats off to you as well for spotting a fantastic time to enter the market. I wish more people in MY business knew how to do that.
We like this one a lot better than #24...although, readers should know THEY could have got #24 for $5000 and it still has very good prospects.
Annie and I were watching Timonium LIVE and we heard "sold to Patrick" an awful lot (turns out that may just be a generic name they use)but she said, "Patrick was so excited about this, I bet he's down there bidding on EVERY bloody horse!"
Lots of horses between $1000-$5000.
Fun fun fun.

Congratulations.
I assume she'll be running in Maryland in the near future?
This is very exciting. I was at Silver Train's Met Mile. I expect that he will throw some good offspring. Good luck!
Great to hear Patrick.
I wish you the best of luck with her.
"Sold to Patrick," alas, merely refers to the bid spotter who had the winning bidder. That's the way auctioneers call them at the sale, since at horse sales you don't have those cute little numbered paddles they use at other kinds of auctions.
Lots of bargains at Timonium, but remember, Patrick, those $6,500 horses eat just as much as The Green Monkey (though I hope, for your sake, that they win more often).
Good luck!
Congrats. She looks like a nice physical.
congratulations. I stumbled upon your site and I am very impressed with your purchase. I consider myself to be a bloodline expert and I think you have some very special turf breeding here. The capote, baldski line is very strong but I am actually taken back that joyeux dancer is in there as well. His family comes from the Arazi line and one of his fillies (chic dancer) was very impressive a few years back. He did most of his breeding in australia so I don't see him very often. I truly think you have a golden TURF chance. Good luck and hopefully you have a good TURF trainer because nothing stinks more than when beautiful breeding goes to waste. EJR
