They might as well rename Monmouth, Zayatville, all their horses seem to run well in their home state. J Be K looked like a man amongst boys in the paddock, was unfazed with a little pressure up top, and Garret Gomez kept him busy through most of the stretch as he powered home for a second consecutive Graded Stakes victory (his only loss being to Harlem Rocker, ugh, let's not talk about it.)
Me and my buddy set out to specifically bet this horse. Garret came all the way from California for one race at Monmouth, he had a very intense look about him pre -race. That's J Be K in the background, and my buddy w/ his eyes closed in the foreground, dope.
Seriously, you gonna bet against this horse, look at him! He was 1-9 early but drifted up to 1-5 I believe. Luckily, me and my buddy were on the money w/ 2nd and 3rd place to hit a pretty cheap tri (can't pat yourself too much on the back for picking the top 3 choices.
He pulled away with a left handed whip. Go Go hit him about 4 times left handed and within the 16th pole kept him to task showing him the whip in the right.
A blur for most everyone there.
Get the winner's circle ready!
Saying cheese for the camera, he's a big horse up close and makes a great impression.
One day, one race, one win, it's just that easy.
Garret was only here for the 1 race and took time out, about 5 minutes to sign some autographs, and talk to some people back at the paddock. Class act, seems like a nice guy post race.
Any word on the Haskell, I know some people whose last name is Zayat, maybe they'll answer that for me. |

Kings Bishop is the likely next start for J Be K, too good at sprinting to stretch him out.
