Look there is going to be about 100 blog posts, 1000 stories, and 2500 TV stories written at around 6:30 today, so figured I'd beat them all to it.
If he wins read the following:
Well I guess that means horse racing is saved. I'm sure we'll see at least 50,000 out at Belmont next weekend, and I'm sure the Travers will be a huge TV draw. Ok, enough with the being snide. You can't ever measure greatness against peers, you have to measure it against time, and there is something to be said about a gate 20 Derby win, and a gate 13 (can't remember) Florida Derby win. You can't take it away from the horse when so many others had chances and have come up short, the calendar alone is the hardest obstacle and he beat it. Congrats to the horse. Dutrow and IEAH can go f themselves. Now the game for all the journo's become where to next. There was a lot of talk about Afleet Alex and Smarty Jones, so I won't believe it till I see it. Poll shortly coming up on
If he doesn't win read the following: Oh well, really he wasn't going to save racing, and now there's a better chance we'll see him again. He did a lot of great things that will never be taken away from him. Since the mid 90's we've seen a ton of great horses get 2/3rds of the way there and they are still considered some of the greats (course they all ran post belmont), so we'll see. Congrats to Big Brown for getting a little light on this sport. Dutrow and IEAH can go f themselves for making a mockery of this spectacle. There's a fine line between crass and showmanship, between business and selling out, let's hope they realize they are on the wrong side of that line.
