I know I'm linking to this, but I don't know if I should encourage you all to read it. Ok, read it and then take a deep breath and laugh. Cause it's funny how ignorant some people are, and it's funny how many people don't let all comments get on their blog. Eight Belles did not die cause she was a girl running against boys. Bramlage said it, Larry Jones said it, I'm sure Porter will say it. If you read Moron's piece you'd think his last paragraph should be on how fillies are better served staying in the barn and cooking for their stallions, maybe we shouldn't even teach fillies to switch leads they don't need to know anyways. It's assinine and coming from a guy who has watched racing for 30 years you think he should know better. |

I agree with Paul. Rick Porter is a tool. His ego runneth over.
The owner being tool does not make the argument for not running fillies with colts.
Were the egos of owners of certain colts also not running over? About half the field didn't belong in the Derby -- would we be talking about Zayat being a tool or greedy or cruel if Z Humor had gone down? How about Team Valor, if Visionaire had been stricken? Eight Belles, though, did belong and her connections were being sporting -- she proved all that with her game second-place finish.
She ran a clean race, hardly bumped, which was PM's big theory, it was just an unfortunate ending.
Any news if Harlem Rocker will be running in the Preakness? Hope so.
Agree with Jessica and Dana 100%! Clearly, Moran needs to watch a little more late-night (US-time) Aussie racing - fillies and mares are all over the place there, just like everywhere else in the world.
Moran is wrong, Fillies run all the time overseas with no increase of injury. Should we ban filly racing altogether? Isn't this just a silly over reaction
