Off the top of your head what does Gr I mean - in any context. For me it's top shelp, cream of the crop, prestige that comes with exclusivity. Ok, maybe that last one I've shoved in their to make a point, but you agree right? You're not a monkey are you? So, you agree that Gr I has a conotation of exclusivity.
Kennedy and I worked together on the AGSC do something website that, I guess, fell on deaf ears. No worries we'll be back again next year. And, Kennedy has already commented about how he feels about the new stakes. His argument stems from exclusivity over the entire product - that there are just too many stakes. His points are all valid, and I agree with him. Unfortunately because our sport is run by breeding dollars and monkeys, I mean they have a hard time passing regulations to outlaw hoodwinking for crissake! - we're stuck w/ the number of stakes we've got. In fact, my guess is the uptrend will always continue.
I want to talk about the structure of the stakes. Shouldn't there be more Gr III's than II, and more Gr II's than I's, doesn't that structure make sense? Look at 2yo colts, 2yo fillies, F/M, F/M Sprint. Shouldn't the overall breakdown of I, II, III be universal between the categories? Shouldn't someone other than 3yo males have a chance at getting some black type?
You want horses to run longer? You want other categories getting Eclipses? It all stems from the above graph and the inherent problems in it. We'll be back next year w/ another petition. Thanks for joining it, please come back again next year.
